Leam 'n' Aid 2006

Leam ‘n’ Aid

After a full on and what seemed to be a problem free day, Leam ‘n’ Aid almost mirrored last years event.

The basement, dominated by solo singer songwriters and duo’s had a steady flow of listeners. The highlights being towards the end when Tom from Men in Caves, Kristy Gallagher, Ben Clempson and Shanade Morrow provided the layers of the tasty musical trifle with Si Hayden being the perfectly round sweet cherry on the top! Too many great acts to mention in one paragraph.

Upstairs started off twice maybe even three times as busy as last year and the crowed fluctuated up until around 9pm where it steadied up for Kingtide, Circle 3 who’s front men both guest vocal’d each other on songs. When The Young Meteors took stage the room went to a whole new level, the late drinkers had arrived and ready to rock out which set the perfect tone for the Broken Dolls to take stage who hadn’t played at home in a long while.

How much was raised? Ball park figure of around £1,700 which is around what we took last year on the door. We had no raffle or Sunday fundraising this year so makes it yet another successful Leam ‘n’ Aid.

We have designated £1,500 to the DEC and the rest to Jim Duncan’s sponsorship for the marathon run for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

BIG Thanks to, Greg Williams for manning the door all day, the boys and girls of project circle 3 for helping in all area's especially Chris for loaning his Kit and Bass amp. Sam Smith and Ben Ablewhite for downstairs sound, Mark Stickly for upstairs sound. Andy for th use of his pub yet again, the staff for serving, the bands for playing and of course everyone who came.

Next year it is then!
