5 a side footy

13.02.2006

It's a lovely Sunday morning, the sun is shining, it's warm and the trees are starting to shed thier leaves. What's that I see in the distance...football hooligans!! Oh Oh!

This was origianlly set up for bands, but most were too cool to wear shorts so it was mainly bars and existing 5 a side teams. Did Team Circle3 shit it? Damn right.

To be honest, everyone behaved really well, a few bad tackles and words but nothing major. It's very hard to be a ref as i found out and fair play to drummer dude Chris for stepping in, he's actually qualified!! Mr over prepared pulls it off again.

The only low moment was when a dude from Dixons, John Swain, had his ankle broken by his own team mate!! This held things up a tad, but once the paramedics arrived and filled him up with gas, they took him off in an ambulance. He looked in alot of pain and i really hope he's ok, will buy him a pint when I next see him.

The best moment for me was reffing the semi final between Ocean and The Fox, where the goal keeper of The Fox got the ball in the balls and fell to the ground, the defender tried to clear it and belted it into his team mates balls who fell to the ground, the same defender tried to clear it again and smacked the other teams striker...in the balls. I managed to get a picture of it, the whole pitch couldn't stop laughing for ages!

Thanks to all teams who played, to Claire Round for the cheaper pitch hire and the loan or bibs, whistles etc, Ruth and Bronwyn for doing so much of the ground work whist i was too busy with the million other things going on, Chris and Matt for reffing, Jenny for taking Pic's of circle3 playing and a personal thanks to Sam, Kev,Chris, Sam Smith and Lewis for playing and kicking ass!

Peace
